ANDY’S TRAILERS is hiring a Polishing Assistant to work on a large trailer restoration project.
No experience necessary: we will train you on our aircraft polishing process.
This is a temporary position expected to last 2-3 months.
Requirements:
-Physical endurance to operate tools for extended periods
-Use of basic power tools, including a Variable Speed Angle Grinder and Cyclo Oribital Polisher
-Ability to work safely using scaffolds and ladders
-Willingness to get dirty and wear personal protective equipment, including respirator, face shield, eye and ear protection, gloves, long sleeves and pants
-Experience working manual labor
-Self-motivated and reliable
Polishing is physically demanding but straight forward. Once trained, you will be able to operate largely on your own. The process involves multiple passes using different polishing compounds, which gets gradually easier. Generally, you run the tool for a while, then spend time wiping away residue. I have attached a few photos and videos below to give a sense of what the work requires.
$20-$25 per hour, based on qualifications.
Based in our shop in the 9th Ward, New Orleans.
Flexible schedule, but the ideal candidate will be able to commit to 24-40 hours per week for the duration of the project. Working hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-6pm. Weekend hours are possible once trained.
**Schedule is weather dependent. It’s not possible to polish while it’s raining, or when the trailer is wet.
